Mission Statement
To inspire, build and strengthen community by providing services, tools, and opportunities through public access media.

Bainbridge Island Television is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization established to provide communication tools to Bainbridge Island residents. We are also a One Call for All agency.

BITV is a membership organization and relies on the community for financial, programming, and volunteer support. Membership is open to residents, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and businesses located on Bainbridge Island. Membership is required before submitting programs or using discounted BITV production equipment and must be renewed yearly. Please refer to the Rules and Procedures Manual for further membership information.

The specific goals are:

  1. To provide programming reflecting the activities, concerns, and interests of the residents.
  2. To provide institutions, organizations and individuals free access to the public access channel on a non-discriminatory basis.
  3. To provide the necessary resources to produce programming, including training, equipment, and production facilities.
  4. To manage, produce, and distribute noncommercial, community-based media programs.
  5. To encourage and facilitate the use of community media as a public forum that promotes a free exchange of ideas and information by serving as a local information exchange.
  6. To develop cooperative community partnerships.
  7. To monitor and incorporate the use of emerging media technologies and expansion to other media that will benefit the Bainbridge Island community.
  8. To operate in a fiscally responsible manner.

Franchise information
The City of Bainbridge Island has a franchise agreement with Comcast Cable. Through this agreement, the City receives funds from Comcast. The City has designated BITV as the local public access cable provider. The City provides funding to BITV in exchange for services through an operating agreement.
